From as long as he can remember nothing would stop Don from spending the first day of fishing season in a local stream and “stalking” the fish. He discovered all the best spots to catch fish. Everyone who knew him understood not to call him or look for him on April 1st of any given year. He loved the outdoors and outsmarting the fish. He always brought home a fish for dinner along with the satisfaction that he had a great day outside in the fresh air.
Fishing filled every spare moment and the next natural phase was to purchase his own boat. He continued to sharpening his boating and fishing skills while spend countless hours learning about all species, their habitats, and especially their habits. Don had a keen interest in seeking the infamous Striped Bass that travel from the ocean upstream into the tributaries in order to spawn. Don evolved into the best “fish detective” on the Hudson River, NY Harbor and Long Island Sound. He became a Licensed Captain of his own charter business, Hookem Charters. Captain Don is lucky to live by the following quote, “If you love your work, you will never work a day in your life.” Actually he “works” to provide YOU with a great day on the water but always with a smile on his face.
